"Je chante Petit-Jean", le nouvel EP de Pénélope Fortier, produit par Borza Ghomeshi, sous son étiquette Mayk Music, est une lettre d'amour à la famille de l'artiste et un hommage spécial à son oncle, l'auteur-compositeur-interprète Jean Fortier, ex-membre du groupe folk Les Cailloux, et étoile montante de la scène musicale québécoise de la fin des années 60 et début des années 70, qui est tristement décédé à l'âge de 24 ans. Cet album combine les influences musicales françaises des années 60 avec la voix envoûtante de Penelope et les magnifiques orchestrations classiques et arrangements instrumentaux plus modernes de Tim S. Savard. Le but de ce projet est de faire revivre les œuvres écrites et musicales de Jean afin de perpétuer son héritage et de le faire découvrir à une nouvelle génération.

Je chante Petit-Jean", produced by Borza Ghomeshi, under his label Mayk Music, is a love letter to Penelope's family and a special tribute to her uncle, singer-songwriter Jean Fortier, ex-member of the folk group Les Cailloux, and a rising star of the 60's to early 70's Quebec music scene, who sadly passed away at the young age of 24. This profoundly intimate record combines the French musical influences of the 60's with Penelope's haunting voice and Tim S. Savard 's beautiful classical orchestrations and more modern instrumental arrangements. The goal of this project is to revive some of Jean's written and musical works in order to perpetuate his legacy and introduce him to a new generation.
